Departure from Saranda towards the ancient city of Butrint, the largest and one of the most significant sites in the country, renowned not only for its history but also for its beauty and enchanting atmosphere. Butrint is protected by UNESCO and the Ramsar Convention, ensuring an exceptional natural and cultural environment.
The history of ancient Butrint is intertwined with myths and legends and is mentioned by dozens of authors from antiquity to the present day, including Virgil, who speaks of the arrival of the Trojans and Aeneas to this city. Various layers and civilizations have overlapped here, leaving their marks from the Neolithic period through the time of Bonaparte and Ali Pasha of Tepelena. The city passed through the hands of the Kaonians of Epir, Romans under Octavian Augustus, Byzantines, Normans, Angevins, Venetians, French, and Ottomans.
After visiting the archaeological site, where impressive monuments stand out such as the Temple of Asclepius, baptistery, nymphaeum, gymnasium, Roman baths, basilicas, gates, and city walls among many others, you will experience a unique magic combined with its Homeric natural surroundings.
Next, we will head to the islands of Ksamil a true gem of southern Albania, where you can enjoy the beauty of the three islands and the crystal-clear turquoise waters facing the island of Corfu. You will have free time for relaxation and exploration.
