An in-depth tour to discover the main archaeological sites of Epirus, including Butrint, Finiq, Adrianople, Antigonea, and Gjirokastër. This journey traces the rich history of one of the most fascinating regions of antiquity and is ideal for those passionate about history, archaeology, and nature. Over three days, you will explore some of the most important archaeological and cultural sites in southern Albania, accompanied by licensed guides and industry professionals.
Day 1: Butrint • Ksamil • Finiq • Saranda
Depart from Saranda for the ancient city of Butrint, one of the most significant archaeological sites of antiquity and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Butrint is one of the largest and best-preserved cities in Albania.
After visiting Butrint, we’ll continue to Ksamil, a town famous for its beautiful islands and crystal-clear waters. You’ll have free time for lunch with a breathtaking view of the Ionian Sea.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit Finiq, the former capital of Epirus. Situated on a hill, Finiq is surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and boasts a rich history and numerous archaeological discoveries, including a large theater with a capacity of approximately 16,000 spectators.
After the visit, we’ll return to Saranda for hotel check-in. The evening is free to explore the city at your leisure.

Day 2: Adrianople • Antigonea • Gjirokastra
After breakfast, we’ll depart for Adrianople, a city dating back to Roman times, founded by Emperor Hadrian. Here we’ll visit the ruins of one of the most important cities of the Roman Empire.
Next, we’ll head to Antigonea, a city founded by King Pyrrhus of Epirus in honor of his wife Antigone. Situated on a hill, the city offers panoramic views and a tranquil atmosphere surrounded by nature.
Lunch will be served in a typical guesthouse, where you can enjoy traditional dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients.
In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Gjirokastra, a UNESCO-protected museum city, famous for its unique architecture. Check-in to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure to wander the stone-paved streets, traditional cafes, and vibrant atmosphere of Gjirokastra.

Day 3: Gjirokastra City Tour
In the morning, we’ll visit the magnificent Gjirokastra Castle, one of the most impressive castles in the region, and other historical sites, such as the Weapons Museum and Skenduli House (optional). After the visit, you’ll have free time to explore the traditional bazaar, where you can purchase handmade souvenirs and local products.
At the end of the visit, you’ll have free time for lunch (not included), followed by the return journey to Saranda, where the tour will end.
