Our journey begins with a departure from Saranda for the picturesque town of Libohovë, located at the foot of Mount Bureto. Surrounded by rugged beauty and steeped in tradition, Libohovë welcomes visitors with its centuries-old plane tree in the central square—a tranquil and scenic spot.
We visit Libohovë Castle, built in the early 19th century by Ali Pasha Tepelena as a wedding gift for his sister, Shanishas. Once a symbol of power and prestige, the fortress today offers panoramic views of the Drino Valley and the surrounding mountains.
Our tour continues through the picturesque countryside to the quiet village of Labova e Kryqit, home to one of Albania’s most important religious sites: the Church of the Holy Cross. A true Byzantine masterpiece, the church is famous for its splendid frescoes and the spiritual atmosphere it exudes.
After a stroll through the village, you’ll have time to savor the historic atmosphere before returning to Saranda in the afternoon.
